Making free Wills accessible to deaf BSL users
Organisation: Royal National Institute for the Deaf (RNID)
Overview
Each year, RNID runs two ‘Free Wills Month’ campaigns to connect users with Will Writers or Solicitors who can help them ensure their loved ones are taken care of after they’re gone.
As a charity that seeks to make the world more accessible to people who are deaf, RNID identified a need to make our Free Wills Service accessible to BSL users.
User need
As a BSL user, I need a free, easy, and accessible way to write my will so that I can ensure the people and things I care about are looked after when I die
Organisational Need
RNID needs a scalable and efficient way to enable BSL users to use our Free Will Service so we can increase our supporter base and encourage engagement in a variety of RNID’s work.
Outcomes
A first of it’s kind service that ensures BSL users can make a free Will in all the same ways as a hearing person.
